Hi folks,
Another long silence on my part, this one due to my being immersed in, consumed by, the making of my documentary film (a filmed memoir), Water Time; Surf/Travel Diary of a Mad Man. I've even bolted stateside from my perfect point in Mexico, to be close to my editor.

But why not? I've written for movies and told stories in prose and shot photographs, all well enough to earn a buck. Why not just combine these endeavors with whatever savvy I have and let 'er rip, right?
Why not, indeed? A thought: Barring miracles, I'll be out of money at about the time the film is done.

Wait a sec--
John here, Allan's web guy and co-producer. On that "out of money" note, I'd like to let it be known that at least one of us is interested in securing a little bit of backing to see this thing through. Making a film is somewhat expensive for one guy to fund, even when you do most of the work yourself. There are music rights to secure, editors to pay, promotional tours, etc. If anyone out there is interested in backing this film.... let Allan know or email me directly at jb@banditobooks.com.
OK, I'll give you Allan back now...

Should I let money issues get in my way?
That's one to ponder.
But the real Question, the only Question, is, Am I driven?

So I'm up the States, at least through September. This leaves my oceanfront digs in Mexico vacant. My landlord, Paco (of Paco's Restaurant fame) and his nephew Osiel are taking care of my little compound while I'm gone. With the thought that such a cool surf 'house' (really a palapa/tent/camper/trailer compound) shouldn't go to waste, I'm offering it to any of my subscribers who needs a surf get-away. You'll pay Paco $25 a night - a steal by anyone's standards.
As you probably know, mi lugar is at Playa Saladita, near Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, State of Guerrero, central Mexico.
When you're sure you want to go, email me and I’ll arrange it with Paco. Please don't write with questions the answers to which you can get elsewhere. Just go or don't. I'm not getting anything out of this except the pleasure of knowing I turned someone on to a great surf vacation. But I'm not a travel agent. If you know anything about me you know I don't have patience for folks who need their hand held.

Back to the subject of Water Time for one last thing. During the finishing of the film in the coming months my editor (Daniel Carettoni, Nomad Productions) and I will be offering you a series of short films based on the long one. Tweak your curiosity kind-of-a-thing.
Please remember that these films are not trailers and are not meant to represent what the film 'is about.' They just are... what they are...
Okay, here's the first one.
I’ll be in touch.
