John here, Allan's Bandito cohort. Being the holiday season, I decided it was high time to provide a little yang to Allan's doom and gloom yin of late. Not to say that Allan's not right in his assessment that the US is on a roadtrip headed to hell in a handbasket... it's just that I like to laugh on my road trips.

That said, the funniest book I've ever read is now out as an audiobook. Yes, I'm talking about Cosmic Banditos. Blackstone Audio, the same folks who turned Captain Zero into an audiobook have done a fine job with Cosmic Banditos as well. Just in time for Christmas. It's available in the Bandito store. If you haven't read Cosmic Banditos in awhile, now might be the time. I've read it 4 or 5 times now, and it never fails to make me grin. Allan's more recent writing has focused so heavily on world affairs that it's easy to forget how hilarious he can be. Cosmic Banditos provides a great reminder that there's a funny sumbitch in there, underneath his diatribes about world affairs and his concern for the state of the human race.

While we're on the funny book topic, the two other funniest books I've ever read are The River Why and The Brothers K, both by David James Duncan.
