Dispatch From Down South, December 18, 2008

Hi Folks,

It's John here again, Allan's webguy. For those of you who didn't read the last two DSPs: I've hijacked his newsletter while he's headed south. Come to think of it, many of you might say he's been "headed south" for a pretty long time now-- as in Dante's version of South... but that's beside the point. "The man who was born to hang need not fear the water" comes to mind...

Anyway, this is just a quick one: Merry Christmas from Bandito Books. Both Allan and I hope that you have a wonderful holiday and that 2009 is full of friends, family, and warm water point waves.

Along those lines, I have 2 links for you: one of which is designed to make you feel good about this f'd up world, and the other is simply some funny, friendly advice.

First up, a video. Here it is.
Nice, eh? Goes to show how creativity, art and music (with some serious recording equipment) can bridge both physical and cutural distance.

Next up is some friendly advice for those of you who, like me, usually drink too much during the holidays. Maybe think of this as more of a how-to piece... here it is. While you're there, check out some of the other reviews. There are some pretty funny ones and some not-so-funny ones, but either way you will learn about some booze that you might want to check out over your holiday break.

-- John (& Allan) at Bandito Books

PS... Allan has arrived at his destination and should be back in touch soon. We've got a series coming up at Surfline.com, which will also be the world premiere of footage from Allan's upcoming road film. We're putting the finishing touches on the first installment right now.
