I'd say "Hi Folks", but that might give you the impression that it's Allan writing this DSP. It's not. It's John, Allan's "web guy".
As I mentioned in the previous DSP, I've decided to hijack Allan's newsletter while he's on the road. That means this: more surfing and less politics & doom-and-gloom-buy-hand-grenades- soon stuff.
First up is some footage that was generously given to us by Josh Pomer, a well-known "new school" surf/documentary filmmaker and a friend of mine from college. Josh had the foresight and/or good luck to find himself at Puerto Escondido with Kenny "Skindog" Collins and Carlos Nogales during a monster swell in June of '06. During the trip, Josh captured these two maniacs towing into some super heavy-duty Puerto bombs, and they ended up winning the coveted $50,000 Billabong XXXL award.
This is the sequence that won the award.
The above sequence comes from Josh's film, Absolute Mexico. A great look at some of what mainland Mex has to offer, surf-wise. Since Allan's on his way back down there as you read this, I thought sending you Josh's clip was wholly appropriate.

Next up, for those of you who don't watch Saturday Night Live, here's a video that makes a good case for why you might want to start soon. I think I've probably watched this clip 10 times in the last 2 days, and I still keep laughing at it. (the first bit is a commercial that NBC makes you sit through, sorry about that).

Thanks again to all of you who checked out our new online store and bought a copy of Can't You Get Along With Anyone? and/or one of the new Captain Zero audiobooks last week. For those of you who didn't get there yet, there's still a little time left before Christmas, so have a look.

As far as I know, Allan crossed the border today and is headed south. He always says he's gonna drive straight there, and he always gets sidetracked by his "never drive away from good surf" mantra... so I don't expect to hear much from him in the near future. I do know that he's writing a travel diary and shooting more footage for our upcoming film, so we'll be sending some of that your way as soon as we can. We've got the first video diary just about ready to go, so stay tuned-- it looks like we'll be premiering it at Surfline.com in the coming weeks, so we'll let you know when it's live.
Thanks, and adios.
